Loading dock & truck yard lighting design

Plan around trailers, vehicle movement and the tasks people perform at the dock.

AI concept of a commercial parking lot illuminated at dusk

Model the obstructions that move

Parked trailers and containers can block light that appears adequate on an empty-site drawing. Describe typical parking arrangements, travel lanes and changing storage areas.

Identify vertical work surfaces

Dock doors, labels and vehicle sides may matter as much as pavement. Agree on the task areas and calculation planes to evaluate.

Coordinate maintenance and operations

Record vehicle clearances, mounting access, operating hours and control needs. Review glare toward drivers and spill toward neighboring roads or properties.

Common questions

Is a parking lot layout enough for a truck yard?

Not by itself. Large obstructions, loading tasks and vehicle clearances introduce additional conditions to model.
