Define the operating modes
List how the space is used during normal operation, cleaning, security periods and special events. Decide which areas need separate control rather than treating the entire property as one switch. For a sports facility, distinguish practice, competition and circulation lighting without assuming the same settings serve every purpose.
Verify compatibility at the fixture level
A dimmable fixture is not automatically compatible with every control system. Confirm the driver interface, voltage, sensor requirements and behavior when control signals are lost. Review the exact ordered configuration and the installation instructions with the responsible electrical professional.
Coordinate occupancy and daylight inputs
Sensor location and coverage should reflect racks, vehicle movement, partitions and where people enter. Outdoor schedules need to account for site operating hours and surrounding properties. Describe the desired behavior in plain language before translating it into devices, zones and programming.
Include commissioning and handover
Assign responsibility for initial programming, aiming, sensor adjustment and operator training. Record the settings used for the lighting calculation and the expected operating modes. A handover should include a zone schedule and instructions for changing settings without losing the intended behavior.
